The proud achievement was again inscribed by the students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of the Medan Area (UMA) University at the local, national and international levels. This achievement did not only make Medan Area University a name but also LL Dikti Region I of North Sumatra and North Sumatra Province. Various achievements were achieved by students of Communication Science Study Program (Communication Science Study Program) and also students of Public Administration Study Program.
The Dean of FISIP UMA, Dr. Heri Kusmanto, MA admitted that in the past three years, from 2017 to 2019, the achievements of FISIP UMA students, especially in the Communication Study Program, were increasing. The achievements of students of Communication and Public Administration always boast of UMA and LL Dikti Region I of North Sumatra. We will continue to maintain it, and even improve it, "said Heri Kusmanto accompanied by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Beby Mashito Batubara and Deputy Dean for Student Affairs Armansyah Matondang and the heads of study programs to reporters on Wednesday (28/8) in the dean's office.
The Dean of FISIP UMA explained that the academic climate in the FISIP UMA environment continues to be created and developed. Not only that, the potential of students' arts, culture and talents was also explored so that achievement outcomes were always obtained by FISIP UMA students. The success of achieving achievements in the academic climate and the potential of artistic and cultural talent has its own significance in improving the quality of education in the UMA environment. "FISIP UMA always fund it so that FISIP UMA students excel, while spurring the quality of education," said Dr. Heri Kusmanto while mentioning the achievements achieved were not without the support of the foundation and the rector.
The Deputy Dean of Student Affairs for FISIP UMA, Armansyah Matondang, detailed various achievements including Meliana and Mina Riang Hia Communication students won the 2017 Kemenristek Dikti grant in the Student Business Competition (KBMI). In 2018, Mina Riang Hia attended the KBMI Expo Kemenristek Dikti at IPB Bogor, then became the only student who appeared as a trainer and ambassador of KBMI LL Dikti Region I of North Sumatra.
Then in 2018 Adinda Saragih (Communication) won first place at the national debate competition at the University of Malikul Saleh. Erwin Surya (Communication) won first place in the North Sumatra level photography competition and first place in the color photography category at the North Sumatra sports and arts week.
"Erwin Surya is the only student who represents the North Sumatra UMA delegation at the National Arts and Sports Week in Yogyakarta," said Armansyah.
Furthermore, Yorizal Tri Marzuki Gulo (2018) Public Administration student won a Ministry of Education and Culture scholarship of Rp. 70 million. In the same year Ayu Fitri Azhari (Communication) came in second place in the Indonesian internet miss election at the North Sumatra level and was entitled to represent North Sumatra at the national level.
Meanwhile, Aziva Zahrianis (Communication) won second place at the 2018 Miss Earth Indonesia North Sumatra Tourism Princess. And Ryandi Ivanka (Communication) was the only North Sumatra student to take part in the International Choir Competition in Hong Kong in August 2019.
